Hello Church! I pray that this letter finds you well and “drinkin’ from the saucer!” We had a great day of Celebration this past Sunday and I hope that you didn’t miss it. We started out the morning service in celebration of our graduating Seniors and ended the day with a wonderful production from our Children’s Choir! The health of a church is usually best measured in its children and youth departments and our health looks pretty good! My personal thanks goes out to Missy, Dennis, and all of the volunteers that make these ministries so successful. And so the celebration continues! What a glorious time in the life of our church! I hope you will continue to pray for the future of FBCL and for Pastor Todd, Nicole and the family. And as we pray, let’s remember to be compassionate. As much expectation as we have for Pastor Todd, and for his vision going forward, let us first remember that at the end of the day, he is a man with a wife and a family that are moving away from a life that they’ve known for some time. They’re moving to a new job, a new city, a new home, and a new church family. And as wonderful as Leesburg and FBCL are, they almost certainly will grieve, if only a small amount, the loss of a whole congregation and community that they have cared for. We also need to remember that we too are in store for CHANGE. He will do some things differently than we are used to. Let us keep that in mind, extend grace to one another, be open to new things and communicate as honestly, effectively and clearly as we can. Remember, there is a lot to learn in a short amount of time, so he will not have answers to all of our questions. Please be patient and try to help him learn more about the congregation & community. Another simple fact is that it may take a while for them to learn everyone’s name! It’s likely that some of us may have names or faces that are strikingly similar to people from their last congregation. We can help them in conversations by reminding them of our names even after we feel they should know it. Patience is a virtue! Let’s welcome the Sullens’ family with an overwhelming love that honors the Father and I’m sure that we will all be blessed beyond measure! 1Peter 1:22—Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart… P.S. I love you and I thank you for all of the love and support of our graduates and I ask that you continue to lift them up in prayer as they face new opportunities to live their faith out loud! Your brother, Bill Meshanko
