Hello Comrades Hope you have a wonderful peaceful day today. I am thinking about art. What is art why do we even need it? I know I need it. There are the metaphysical questions about why man even needs art, to me art is what is beyond reality. So I got to thinking about Bjork. I respond to her work with a lot of gravity and she pulls me into her world forcing me into a place beyond the normal, where I am compelled to open my eyes and my heart. My heart beats faster my soul is invigorated when I put her music on or watch her video, I feel awake, she can even make me uncomfortable at times with the way she sings her words as to me it evokes a kind of scream, sometimes it is just too abtract for me but I always engage in its beauty. I never disconnect from her force. She is telling me something and I hear it whether I like it or not. In a word she is stretching me. I like how my body feels after yoga. I like how my spirit feels after listening to Bjork. Art therefore could be spiritual exercise. That is why we feel so good after a good book, dance concert film, sculture or whatever. We have worked the spirit and it feels good to remember to work with it. So here is one of my favotite Bjork song and video. Every little girl and boy should have a Bjork Album.
