Hello Darklings, First the bad news ... on the way home from Apres my feet informed me they were filing for divorce from the rest of my body ! Now the good news, and where do I begin? WHAT A NIGHT !!! I knew Midge would be good ... but not THAT good, I thought he was brilliant live, and an absolute pleasure to work with. In the way Heaven 17 performing Only After Dark made my night, Midge performing Lady Stardust made all the effort worthwhile, a version that Im sure Bowie himself would have approved of. I asked Midge if he could perform a Bowie song as a nod to OAD, but was expecting the more predictable The Man Who Sold The World, so playing Lady Stardust was a wonderful, wonderful surprise. Thanks to Sam for his lovely words after Midge had finished performing, I was truly touched by them, and for running a very busy desk (certainly early on !) and for Joe and Rebecca for assisting him. Thanks to Sara for supporting me throughout an incredibly tiring, but worthwhile, day that started at 7.30am and finished 20 hours later ! Thank you to Chris for unexpectedly providing those 5 lovely cakes, one for each year ... which I definitely appreciated at 1am in the morning, lol ! And yet more thanks ... to Ken for taking what Im sure will be a very impressive set of photos throughout the evening, and to the owners of Apres without whose help Midges appearance at OAD would not have happened. To you fabulous Darklings, can I say a MASSIVE thank you for helping the night to go so smoothly ... no complaints to deal with, everyone seemed happy and buzzing, and you were very patient while we cleared the dance floor area in order to carry on partying. WHAT A FANTASTIC WAY TO CELEBRATE 5 YEARS OF OAD ... I could not have wished for more than what happened last night. Have I got any regrets starting OAD 5 years ago? Experiencing last night ... how could I have ! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday ... and hopefully see lots of you again on the 21st ! :) x
