Hello Everyone. Finally have something to report. Were not done yet.Ive been trying to find out why the cameras are still flashing and live video is being watched at SVPD. I visited with Mayor Mueller today hoping for answers. The Mayor did not know that video was still being seen by the police. He was to contact Command there about it today. He offered that officers have plenty to do without looking at vids all day. I agreed. I asked when we can expect removal of Redflex equipment. He wasnt sure. He said the contract doesnt specify a schedule for that. On Nov 20, Redflelx was notified of the contract termination. I have a copy of that letter. They have not yet replied. The Mayor thought maybe it was due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Ok. Maybe. I convinced him to contact them again this week. The next City Council meeting is Dec 11. I will address these questions at Call to Public then. We are expecting a reply from Redflex by then. In any case, Redflex has their equipment on S.V. property. Since there is no definition about removal timing, the City should have discretion of that and require removal in a reasonable fashion. Sooner the better. With that in mind, I inspected some cameras today and determined that I could remove any of them in 1/2 hour myself. With a few wrenches and a screwdriver. I know some think they could do it much faster with a 30.06 but I dont recommend that. Mayor Mueller also wondered why Redflex would continue with video since they cannot collect money for it. Me too. He was quick to note that City cant touch the cams since they dont own them. Cant even put bags over them. Im thinking, why not?. Theres no damage and other cities have done that. What would be the consequences to someone else doing that? A citizen perhaps. What obligation does City Hall have to protect them? Can I park a truck at City Hall for a few months and ask them to keep an eye on it for me? Not likely. Anyway, I hope to get answers at the Council meeting on Dec 11. If you have questions, post here or attend the meeting or call me. 456-5291.---Robert
