Hello Everyone! Last weekend I mentioned that St. Michaels has a lending library run by Lucretia. Last week I donated a book, The Man Who Quit Money by Mark Sundeen. If you get a chance check it out, along with all of the other great donated books. In the fall of the year 2000, Daniel Suelo left his life savings of $30 in a phone booth and started to live. Since that day he has intentionally chosen to live without money. He has not worked a paid job, or paid taxes or accepted any public assistance in the 15 years since that decision. He lives in the caves of Utah’s Moab desert Canyonlands and forages for wild berries and dumpster dives for food. While most people, including myself, would not find this lifestyle choice enviable, Suelo has reported finding a newfound sense of security and freedom in pursuing this way of existence. This book chronicles his life and odyssey, from growing up in a conservative fundamentalist Christian home, to his days in college awakening to new spiritual and philosophical ideas, to a failed suicide attempt, to working as a frustrated social worker, to wandering America to his decision to finally quit money, and the culture around it, once and for all. Author Mark Sundeen paints a vivid portrait of an unforgettable character whose life, and personal philosophy, might make you reexamine your life. youtu.be/qxN74kyZO3c
