Hello FB family- The past several days have been a rollercoaster and I havent had a chance to post. My mom’s bloodwork shows that the antibiotics she is being treated with appear to be working. Her pain is being treated with ibuprofen instead of morphine, which shows a lot of progress. She had a blood transfusion and her hemoglobin is getting better. She is up and walking around and yelling at my dad and that’s another good sign. She may even getting out of the hospital today. When she does, she will be treated at home intraveneously for the next 6-8 weeks. Once the treatment is completed she will have another MRI to see what the prognosis is and whether it’s bacteria, not cancer re-occurence, that has been causing so much pain. The doctors say that odds are against us, but we should have hope. It’s hard to do that when everything looks bleak, but just when I am ready to give up she shows me that she is still in this. I don’t believe it’s her time to leave us yet. We are praying for continued strength, spirit, and will to fight and win this battle. As always, your kind words and messages touch us deeply. I have felt extremely alone for quite a while, and I am now committing myself to taking advantage of the support system that I have. I did not want to be a burden on anyone but the truth is you really are more positive for your loved one if you have the right frame of mind yourself. Jackie Herigodt and Meredith Novak, thank you so much for taking care of me yesterday, and Stephanie Bezanis for letting me couch surf. The truth is, my dad is the optimist in the family. My mom and I have always been pretty pessimistic. I wonder what would happen if I actually started to believe that things are going to be ok? If you’d like to help, I would love it if you could give me mom an extra boost too. Margaret’s address is 3190 S. 85th Street Milwaukee, WI 53227. She loves lilacs, poetry, ginger smelling things, cards and balloons as well. I’m also thinking about getting a huge banner together and having people sign it. Anyone who feels up to a little diy challenge let me know! Finally, the antibiotics she’s on completely dry out her mouth so it’s nearly impossible to eat. Once again, If you have the time and are willing, please feel free to sign up for a meal. mealtrain/?id=mxtm9nxo3dut I hope this isn’t asking too much. Holding you all in my heart and truly grateful for your presence in our lives.
