Hello FaerieCon! My name is Dave Olsher, and i run Admissions for FaerieCon East. I know theres been a lot of discussion about the events at the Bad Faeries Ball on Saturday night, and I wanted to try to provide a more complete understanding of what happened. At the end of the evening, during the last song of Omnias set, the hotel general manager spoke to me and expressed, extremely politely, that there were some concerns about the comfort and well-being of the guests and the event, and that he was going to make the decision to close the doors to the Ballroom, not allowing any more guests into that room. Two of the regular security individuals who were already there for the event manned the doors, along with several FaerieCon volunteers. Omnia played one more encore number, and then the concert came to an end. I do understand that there are people disappointed that they were not able to catch the final two songs of the show. However, please be assured that all decisions were made from the standpoint of the safety, comfort, and best interests of the individual guests of FaerieCon East and the overall event itself. I have heard some people say that they were turned away from the Ball entirely, and missed the whole show. The Saturday show did sell out on Friday night, and I know that there were a few guests who were not able to acquire tickets for the Bad Faeries Ball at all. There may be some confusion between those two instances, but I can assure you that no Masquerade Ball ticket holder was turned away from the entire event. At any event, when there are unexpected occurrences like this, there is naturally a lot of speculation and rumor. I can also clarify that the event was neither deliberately nor accidentally oversold, and at no time was the fire marshall directly involved. If anyone has any questions beyond what is addressed in this post, Id be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. If you need to communicate directly with the producers of the event, then info@faerieworlds will be your best avenue of communication. The events of Saturday night comprised only a small fraction of the FaerieCon East 2014 weekend, and I hope that there are more than enough good memories and moments from the rest of the weekend to make up for any inconvenience or disappointment caused. Thank you!
