Please show your support in September for “Leukemia Awareness Month” by showing your ORANGE FIGHTER SMILE! Take a slice of an orange peel and stick it in your mouth to resemble a fighter’s mouth guard! Take a photo and post it to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and any other social media account you have to show the world your ORANGE SMILE in support of Leukemia Awareness Month and for the people who continue to fight, the survivors and the fallen! We ARE FIGHTERS and we want to KNOCK OUT Leukemia!!! Another way you can show your support is to join The National Marrow Donor Program at marrow.org and click on JOIN THE REGISTRY! Take your first step to being someone’s cure by joining the bone marrow registry today. You could be a possible match for a patient in need of a bone marrow transplant. The cure for blood cancer is in the hands of ordinary people. One simple action can be the difference that gives a patient hope for the future. Become a life-saving bone marrow donor today. Every four minutes, one person is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer. That’s more than six people each hour or 148 people each day. Patients are searching for a cure. It could be you. It doesn’t cost you a penny! You go to the website - marrow.org, click on “join the registry”, they will mail you a swab kit, and you swab your mouth and mail it back. That’s it! You are now on the National Bone Marrow Registry. This is very near and dear to my heart because I have battled Leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant in 2011 with my older sister’s bone marrow cells and then two years later I relapsed and battled it again in 2013 followed by another bone marrow transplant with a non-related, unknown donor’s cells.
