Our college student friend is still working on her project about fibromyalgia and would like to ask us all a few more questions. :) QUESTION: In the previous comments some members of the group have mentioned that some people have called them “crazy”, “lazy” and other bad hurtful things. Do you experience some form of stigma or neglect because of the illness? Stacys Answer: Yes. My doctors ignored two huge lipomas on my back that were causing me debilitating pain because they said my pain was just fibromyalgia. I was barely able to walk, use my arms, or breathe. It took over a year to get someone to believe me, and when I finally got them taken out I was able to use my arms immediately after surgery. I also face the stigma from people in general who tell me Id feel better if I just got out more or exercised more, insinuating that Im choosing to be in pain or just lazy. Whats YOUR answer?
