Hello Friends, I hope its been a great week so far for you all! I would like to present you with two opportunities so that you can get engaged with local communities: 1/ volunteering at Get Covered! Canvassing, hosted by Working Partnership USA (WP USA)! They will train you on how to talk to constituents about Affordable Care Act. This is a good advocacy event for you to show people what ACA means to them! There are two dates for you to choose: Sat (2nd & 9th November): 10am-2pm You can contact me regarding this event to confirm your attendance. 2/ Raise the Wage East Bay is hosting another First Friday mobilization event! They advocate for raising the minimum wage in the East Bay for working class citizens. Here is an excerpt from Nicky Yuen, one of the campaigns fierce leaders, speaking about the reasons to carry out the campaign: Four years ago this week, we saw the federal minimum wage rise to a meager $7.25 an hour. The state minimum wage has been stuck at $8.00 for five years. For a full-time worker, this amounts to just $16,640 — far below the national poverty level for a family of four ($23,550) and much less a living wage in the Bay Area.
