Hello Friends of Flora, Yesterday marked a week that Flora has - TopicsExpress

Hello Friends of Flora, Yesterday marked a week that Flora has been at the Hospice Center at Evergreen. Today she is being moved to HOME. This has been her goal right along. She is feeling better in that the tube is gone from her nose, so her ability to speak (just above a whisper) has returned. Her throat was so sore from that tube! She will have a hospital bed and all other items delivered to her condo today. Home Hospice will monitor her every couple of days with a nurse and social worker. Yesterday she was sitting up in her recliner chair for quite a while. She took a good nap in the afternoon to be ready for visitors who were coming at 5:00pm. The Swahili Choir from Holy Spirit Catholic Church, in Kent, came up with about 15 singers. We set up the Chapel at Hospice and we were in a big circle. They sang, they prayed, they conveyed their wishes for her and all of us on our journey to Heaven. When it was over we had cookies and juice. We had taken Flora down in a wheel chair, covered with many blankets to keep her warm. She thanked them herself, for coming to visit her and how much it meant to her. When taking her back toward her room she said stop and pointed to the room where they had gathered. So…she went in and visited with the choir members. I have not seen her SMILE like this for 4 wks. What a gift they were for her right now. The emergency Visa’s for her Mother and Sisters have been sent and as of now we are waiting to hear if they will be able to come. The word right now is that her Mother and 1 sister may be able to come and would be here the end of this week. I have asked those at hospice, who have been caring for her this week, what they think, time wise we should expect. They, of course, do not know but said 1 wk or 2 wks…..but if she is waiting to see someone, like her Mother, they have seen patients hold out for days. We all agreed that with her determination, only God knows how much longer we have with her!! Since she will be at home she will have time with her family, It has been suggested that we all just call Devin prior to any visits. Please feel free to e-mail me or call as to her condition. God Bless you all for your continued prayers for Flora and her family, Peace, Mary Lou Callero
