Hello, Grammar Guardians! The VOCATIVE case is a way of directly - TopicsExpress

Hello, Grammar Guardians! The VOCATIVE case is a way of directly addressing someone; in this case, friends, I am addressing all of you. When using the vocative case, ladies and gentlemen, please use a comma to separate the statement from the person being addressed. That “vocative comma” can appear anywhere in the sentence, dear readers. Good people, you are correctly addressing someone just as long as you use that comma! If you, O Person Interested in Grammar, don’t overuse the vocative case the way I am in this entry, your grammar will be correct and elegant. If you DO overuse it, buddy, you’re going to come off as an arrogant jerk.
