Hello Hello!! As week 5 rolls by with our many assessments and events going on in uni and around the world, let us remember to keep our sight and focus on our Heavenly Father, who is the everlasting God, who neither faints nor is weary. Praise Him who gives power to the weak and to those who have no might He increases strength. May all of you be strengthened during this time as we enter into a peak season of assessments. Heres whats going on this Friday at OCF, and some of the events that are coming up =): >> Bible Study 3: Romans 3 So far in Romans, Paul wrote about how mankind in general are given into their unrighteousness and ungodliness. We also learnt that Gods wrath would be revealed to all who are unrighteous and ungodly. Last week, Paul focused on how the Jews, people who claimed to know God and the very people who were originally selected by God to be set apart for Him, were not spared from judgment either. Then, do people who claim to know God have any advantage at all before God? Come along this Friday to find out as we continue to read Pauls epistle to the Romans =) >> Alpha 3: How Can I have Faith? In this weeks Alpha, we look at the foundations of belief in Jesus and evidence for believing in Christianity. The message this week takes the perspective of a person who has crossed the line of faith and has accepted the truth of Christianity. How can that person make sure that they have made the right decision? Of course there are those of us who have not yet crossed that line, and sometimes, we wonder: “if I crossed this line and accepted Christ, how could I be sure I have made the right decision?”. Come on over to Alpha this Friday to find out =) >> Prayer Meetings We have begun our prayer meetings! Do come along and join us for a time of seeking God and encouraging one another. Timings are as follows: https://drive.google/file/d/0B_l0k5gGchmQQkprVm9UbjdJdHM/edit?usp=sharing >> Prayer Walk We will be gathering at 6.30 pm at Psyc G6 every Friday to pray for OCF and each other. Do come along and join us for a time of seeking God and encouraging one another! >> OCF Next Week (Week 6) Just a heads up, we will be meeting at Lena Karmel Lodge at the same time next week, in line with our efforts for OCF Convy fundraising. See you at LK next week! >> A Call to Pray - National Prayer & Missions Month (NPMM) This August is National Prayer and Missions month. This is the time where all OCFers throughout Australia come united in prayer to our Heavenly Father, for each others home countries, for each others OCF Centres and for each of our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is a special time when we remember to spur each other on in our faith through prayer. As we are a part of the bigger OCF Australia family, lets do our part as OCF Canberra. OCF Australia has compiled a prayer and devotions booklet (attached in this e-mail). The prayer booklet* lists prayer points for major countries where international students around Australia originate from. It also lists prayer points for each OCF Centre around Australia. The devotional booklet** is a good 28-day booklet consisting of material to help us understand the basics of prayer and being intimate with our God Almighty. These devotionals could help spark a life of prayer in us. Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ~ Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV) ~ See you this Friday! God bless, Talitha
