Hello Hello!!!! Tonight in GoGo Dancing class at The New Day Center for the Arts (at 5516 SE Foster rd.) we will be covering Freestyle Concepts!!! At its very basic, Freestyle is improvised dance. Freestyle can be performed inside a specific genre or it can be performed as a fusion dance. GoGo is a genre of dance that is generally freestyled and is also a fusion dance. The style of music we dance to dictates the genre from which pull our repertoire. The style of music we generally dance to is electronic or hip-hop inspired. This dictates our dance. In the U.S Most GoGO is a fusion of Jazz and Contemporary basics, Tecktonik, Hip-hop, and Pop&Lock and Liquid. Our style of GoGo dance reins from the dance floor of the rave and club scene. But GoGo can also be performed to many other genres of music such as Reggaeton, Dancehall, Disco, and even Classic Rock. As a professional, it is important to have an arsenal of moves and combos from an assortment of genres. However, for the purpose of this course, we will be focused on developing our own personal dance styles. Freestyle is best with the dance is authentically your own! This starts in our soul! For this exercise we need to forget everything we learned in our INTENTIONS class! Shut down your inner chatter, think of nothing or let your mind race. Close your eyes, listen to the music, and just let your body go! Developing your style starts with its most eccentric and unrefined inspiration. If you start big and bold and without apology you will find comfort in your dance. When you find yourself in your dance, you can then work on cleaning up and refining your skill and becoming the well rounded dancer you wish to become! SEE YOU TONIGHT!!!
