Best, Jennifer FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New GEEARS Poll Shows Early Care and Education is Pivotal, Bipartisan Issue for Georgia Voters - Nearly 90 Percent of Georgia Voters Support the Use of Lottery Funds for Statewide Pre-K – - GEEARS to Release Full Survey Results at October 13 Event that Features Candidates Governor Nathan Deal, Senator Jason Carter, Michelle Nunn, Valarie Wilson and Richard Woods – ATLANTA, GA – Oct. 6, 2014 Coinciding with Georgia Pre-K Week, the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students (GEEARS) today unveils the first of a series of results from a new poll that points to early care and education as a critical issue that generates strong, bipartisan support among Georgia voters. “Georgia voters overwhelmingly support early education programs as an investment in Georgias future,” said Mindy Binderman, Executive Director of GEEARS. “Our new poll of Georgia voters shows that 87 percent support the use of lottery funds to provide voluntary pre-kindergarten for four-year-olds. This is key data that should inform policy decisions to expand and strengthen Georgia pre-k.” The full survey results will be shared during the October 13 “GEEAR Up for the Future: An Early Education Summit” in Atlanta, which will feature one-on-one Q&A sessions on early care and education with gubernatorial candidates Governor Nathan Deal and Senator Jason Carter. U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn, State School Superintendent candidates Valarie Wilson and Richard Woods, and other national and local speakers from the business, law enforcement and research communities also will share their views on educational issues.
