Hello, I just wanted to pay tribute to a discreet musical legend who has passed away on Tuesday the 20th of January 2015 - but the news were only official a few minutes ago... And this makes me very sad... again. Edgar FROESE, who founded TANGERINE DREAM in 1967 (even though their first record was only recorded in 1970) is certainly, along Klaus SCHULZE, the most famous and most influential musician in the electronic music genre with the band that he made last, through all the line-up changes, during more than 45 years. Of course, TD isnt really rock music for many people because they actually did many records without any guitar or any other insturments than synthesizers.. The expression Cosmic music was invented for them in the early 70s... Since then, Froese and TD have changed style many times, evolved from very experimental music to some more accessible albums, but still experimenting (especially during the last years), doing some soundtracks for many movies, some more new age stuff,... some more cinematic stuff, But they kept evolving and lately, mainly under the influence of Froese who has released many solo albums or almost-solo albums under the name of Tangerine Dream during the last 10 years, for instance. Edgar maybe played a ton of keyboards and synths and classical piano, but he was also a guitar player, and a fairly original one.... He has always played a bit of guitar in his band except during short periods... I really liked him as a musician but also as a guitar player. I finally met him twice very briefly after the two only TD concerts that I could attend, in 2010 and 2014... It was an honor. R.I.P. Mister Froese... Im really going to miss you... I will post a few pieces where we hear him play guitar(s).... Starting with the title track of one of TDs most successful albums, Stratosfear, in 1976. youtu.be/2w8VsvJ40sM
