Hello! I wanted to ask for your advice if you have a quick - TopicsExpress

Hello! I wanted to ask for your advice if you have a quick minute to read this. I’ll try and keep it neat and to the point but have a tendency to waffle off, so please bear with me! (Waffles and bears sound like a great combination, isn’t the English language funny how waffle and bear can be silly expressions too?) We noticed that our blog Searching for Tomorrow is very close to 10k followers and we felt we couldn’t not say anything, and “thank-you” seemed too small to express our gratitude. Here’s the thing. I’ve always been so conscious of the fact that in the art industry, numbers and figures are quite meaningless. You could have 50 followers and be the best artist in the World and someone with 50,000,000 followers may not necessarily be “better” than that person with 50. It’s all so subjective. Comparing your number of Twitter followers to someone you admire is always an immediate happiness killer if you don’t have as many as them, I know I’m guilty of sometimes feeling like maybe I’m insignificant because someone has a larger friend base so they’re obviously more popular, better, cooler and a generally more amazing human being than I could ever hope to be. We’re all at very different stages in our journeys and comparison can be dangerous. With this all in mind, I’ve been wondering if it would be a good idea or not to announce 10k followers. There’s always that worry that you’ll be accused of showing off or coming across as smug, because, you know, this is the Internet and people can assume things and take things the wrong way that they’re intended to be taken. The thing is though, it just seems rude to not say anything to you. Because it’s you who make us keep sharing photographs on our blog. It’s you who comment and fill the day with joy. It’s you who takes the time to share that little bit of happiness with someone you may not even have met, because you’re kind and that kindness is always so, so appreciated; even if we don’t get the chance to say it every single day. And trust me, we would say it every single day if we could. So to say thank-you when the special time comes, what would you like? What would be useful to you? We were planning a big giveaway with 1 winner and 2 runners up but we also wanted everyone to feel included so everyone can be thanked and it doesn’t feel exclusive. I thought Photoshop or Lightroom presets may be nice, but those of you who may not use those would then be left out. So what kind of things would you find handy and useful as a present for everyone? It would have to be something digital and fairly easy to send out to everyone to download. Please do let us know as we’d love to start putting something special together, just to say the biggest thank-you for the support and joy you always offer.
