Hello, I wanted to say a big thank to you all those residents that helped me and my family have the best start to our new lives in Strathmore. I am not sure what was posted on behalf of us by a lady called Natasha she posted asking for help and donations for our family as we had left Nova Scotia searching for a better life here in Alberta where my husband had secured an excellent job. We left with the clothes on our backs and our childrens toys and beds, but not much more. We came to Calgary (Sep 7th) and stayed with friends for a bit until we stumbled upon Strathmore and decided we wanted to live here as the community is awesome. Initially we rented a 4x 5 trailer and took our two children aged 2 years and 4 months at the time across the country to make our lives better, as the job situation in NS is a problem in itself. We drove 11-12 hour days and it was very stressful with some hiccups on the way. We successfully made it and have now moved to Strathmore as of last Sunday, when we saw all the donations from people who wanted to help us start off our lives in Strathmore, we were completely thankful and overwhelmed and I still tear up when I write this. The fact we could move in and have the simple stuff like a bed, table, couches and even the small stuff like plates, cups and cutlery has made this a really nice smooth transition the our new home. We finally could see our 2 year old happy as the move has been very stressful for him. I have started to make friends and find groups I can attend to be able to get out the house and regain my sanity (if it ever comes back) I am happy to call Strathmore our new home and feel very welcomed here as every one is nice and says hi to us. I love the spirit here and feel like its such family orientated busy small town with lots to do and easy access for me to walk to places. Thanks for everyone that helped us I will forever be grateful and if you see us in the street come and chat to us and we will tell you all about our adventure. I have added some photos of our journey and we even had made a page at the time to share with others.. Come and read our journey. The image of the car on the grass was when we broke down in Manitoba and sat on the grass keeping warm. https://facebook/LongWayWest?ref=hl
