Hello! Im Mike Wakeman and if your reading this you are doing what I was doing this past July. I am 44 and not in the shape I wanted to be. Being the Husband of the best girl in the world and the father to the most beautiful 3 yr old girl I told myself it was time to change my priorities. Being 62 and 230 lbs I wasnt ashamed of my size but notice my strength and stamina going down. Our family had been members of the Y.M.C.A. for a couple years but belonging doesnt get you results. After looking at other fitness programs I kept coming back to G.I.M. The biggest reason.....the owners. This is not only their Business, its their passion. You will always deal with them personally with questions, training, and motivation. By supporting them you are also supporting your community. (for me that means ALOT). Now back to me (lol). My wife and I joined the Fuel and Fit program in Aug. Neither of us really knew how to exercise CORRECTLY and though we cook at home we didnt know how to cook and eat clean they also spend the time to teach the basic moves of the workouts especially Kickboxing. Being a specialized service technician I travel the Midwest for work which provided an extra challenge to this. Instead of excuses I made my health a priority and did what I had to do to commit to the 6 weeks. That commitment has been worth every second! Every day I am getting faster and stronger. At the 5 week mark I had my annual physical for health insurance and I am thrilled with my results. From Sept 2013 to Nov 2014 I have lost 32lbs, 6.5% body fat and my resting heart rate went from 80 to 64. My blood pressure has gone from 136 / 90 to 114 / 72, my triglycerides and cholesterol both dropped 100 points and my LDL’s went from 145 to 77. Since the end of fuel and fit I have continued with G.I.M. finding the balance between traveling and workouts and proper nutrition. There are quiet a few options for workout times and if that doesnt work they now have workouts streamed online recorded from an earlier class usually within that week and also specialty workouts requiring little to no equipment. One last and important note. The MEMBERS are people like you and I remembering their 1st week and make you feel welcome, as most classes have 1 or more members who are also instructors. So I want to thank Mardi and Sandy for their dedication to me and the community!
