Hello Mr. Lofland- You may or may not recognize my email - TopicsExpress

Hello Mr. Lofland- You may or may not recognize my email address, but I am the person who sends out the correspondence for the Adopt A Wetland program. As part of a volunteer organization, I am also one of the few licensed wildlife rehabilitators who works with turtles and I was very happy to see the photo and hear about your snapping turtle rescue. Above that, you put him/her (hard to tell as the photo does not allow for me to see) into the correct watershed as most people do not know, so thank you for creating awareness. The main focus of the wildlife rehab group (The Delaware Council of Wildlife Rehabilitators dewildliferescue) is getting injured wildlife back out there but we also emphasize education on handling injured wildlife, when and when not to rescue, diseases associated with wildlife, stressing the importance of leaving wildlife in the wild and offering information on regulations associated with not removing them. Even though the season for turtles crossing the road is winding down, I still see a few and have other reports such as yours. If in future you ever come across an injured turtle or one that appears to be ill, no matter the size, species or extent of injury, feel free to contact our group and myself or Cathy Martin (another turtle rehabber), whom I have cc’ed would be happy to assist. We also work with other species as well and have licensed rehabbers across the state. Thanks again for your rescue story!
