Hello, My name is Gary Monaghan. My wife Anne and I joined the Lorimer Lake family last year. Being relatively new, there is still lots to learn about the lake, its history and our fellow cottagers, but there are two key things that we have learned. The first is that Lorimer Lake is a special and unique lake, something to be treasured and protected. The second is that the Lorimer Lake Association is our best political force to help keep it special and unique. This spring I joined the board of the LLA and I was also entrusted with building and placing the buoy markers on the lake. Although the buoys are a very visible sign of what the Association can achieve, the work that Pat Wylie, Lisa Klenavic, Cecilia Parkes and Peter Gottschlich have done in the background, on behalf of property owners, although not as visible, is far more important in keeping our lake special. Their efforts working with the Whitestone and McDougall councils, and the province of Ontario, has helped keep our Lake designated as a Lake Trout lake, and this designation is what helps to keep the lake unique. In one of the last letters sent by Pat Wylie, the President of the Cottage Association, she asked that you support the efforts of the association through your membership. If you have not already joined, I also ask that you consider joining in order to give the Cottage Association more authority and credibility. I ask that you help to keep our lake unique. For just $30 per property......a little goes a long way. Although the "cottage season" is in the second half of the season, the work that the association does with the municipalities and the province is ongoing throughout the off season, so it is never too late to join and give your support. Thank you to our 2013 members. Your support has meant a great deal. For your convenience, memberships may be dropped off with Ruth Ball, 7 Taylor Lane in Whitestone, Judy Powell, 429 Lorimer Lake Road, Peg Peatfield, #13 White Beaver Island, Gillian Crouse at the Tim Horton camp or Gary Monaghan at 449 Lorimer Lake Road. Cheques may also be mailed to: Lorimer Lake Assoc. Inc. c/o Gillian Crouse, 539 Lorimer Lake Road, McDougall, ON, P2A 2W7 Just a quick update on the buoy project. It was completed on budget, 14 buoys and one hazard marker were put into place. Thank you to all who provided donations towards the project and thank you for the positive feedback. The buoys will remain in place until sometime in October, at which time they will be removed. They will be re-installed next spring after ice out. Thank you again for your support. A successful association will always be "member driven". Gary Monaghan Membership Director
