Hello! Next week in New York during the tenth Open Working Group (OWG) session, there is an opportunity on Wednesday 2nd April afternoon for Major Groups to share with governments recommendations on targets for each of the 19 thematic focus areas. The OWG co-chairs have made it quite clear that the time for stocktaking is over, and now there will be a focus on targets- not narratives. To prepare for this opportunity, several of us as 10YFP Focal Points felt it would be useful to compile a spread sheet that all of our organisations and networks can feed into with regards to proposed targets on sustainable consumption and production (SCP). This spreadsheet seeks inputs on SCP targets that are relevant across all of the 19 focus areas- to ensure SCP will be embedded in all sustainable development goals- but also specifically for the SCP focus area itself. The google document we’ve developed can be accessed and inputted to here: https://docs.google/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnEpF8mM8JVRdHlNUjhuNFBpang4UjhKNldTNEpkSFE&usp=sharing#gid=0 On Monday 31st March we then propose to meet with all 10YFP Focal Points- and representatives from across the Major Groups working on the issue of SCP- who are here in New York, to draft a statement on SCP for the Wednesday session that will be based on the inputs made to this google doc spreadsheet. The Major Groups have also set up a master spread sheet for inputs on targets across all of the 19 areas, so we will be adding the SCP targets to this also. It would be good to confirm who is coming to New York next week- please do let us know so we can schedule a meeting on Monday evening that is convenient? And if we could ask you and your networks to try and add your targets to the google doc by Monday 5pm (EDT), we can then use all of our inputs as the basis for writing our statement on SCP on Monday evening.
