Hello Pinnacle neighbors. I am Wayne, the other half of Mike and Wayne, Im a first time poster. As most of you know, spring break began this afternoon for FCPS. Typically the city will see an uptick in residential burglaries and LFAs (larceny from autos) during this time period. I realize all the folks on here have angels for kids, but teenage committed crimes increase during spring break as a rule. With the recent LFAs on Fitzroy I suspect there may be a juvenile in or near the neighborhood targeting unlocked cars (there was a theft of a radio on Vermillion Peak Pass in Jan when school was out for a week because of snow). These three incidents were in a concentrated area and due to a totality of the circumstances it is quite possible that it was amateur-ish juvenile crime. We have noticed in our short time patrolling the neighborhood that there are several things the community can do to prevent crime. The most common security breach I see are left open garage doors. Please double check your garage doors. And please do not think that because you are home eating supper or watching tv with your family that you are immune from a garage theft. It takes less than one minute for a criminal to enter your garage and take a tool box, golf clubs etc and throw it in the back of their truck and be gone. The second biggest security lapse weve noticed is unlocked vehicles with valuables lying in plain view. Lastly, short of providing a theft prevention handbook on FB, I would highly recommend not sending outgoing mail through an unsecured mail box. I have noticed in our nightly patrols that people have placed mail in their boxes with the flags up announcing to all would be mail thieves, here is a target for you. Remember if you are going out of town and dont have family or friends to watch your house, Mike and I would be glad to keep an extra eye out as well as retrieve your mail and anything else we can do to be of assistance.
