Hello Poppers from all over. Im sorry I wasnt able to bring you the charts for the week. I think its more important to focus on a few other things at this time. I had an opportunity to email SongPop on the use of karaoke singers and the use of obscure music. Heres what they had to say: . As with all music content is, some times, complicated to get a hold of. Generally, the more popular or well-known songs can be rather involved to get the rights to use. In order to fill up the lists with more than just a handful of songs they cast a wider net over a genre and pick up all sorts of music. Also, picking less well-known artists and songs makes the game a bit more challenging. Finally, many of the song choices come from out of forums where people vote on bands and playlist suggestions. Their answer is not a surprise. Although they are members of all the record unions that allow them to use the songs, they still have a hard time getting the rights to the great songs we know and love. Therefore, the use of obscure music is there to make up for what they cant get. Accordingly, the use of karaoke singers, most of whom are terrible, are used to make up for the well known artists and songs they cant get. But they credit the real artists who did the song as opposed to the karaoke singers themselves. The legality of which is being investigated by me. So Im not sure that Ill be emailing them too much in the near future. But for those of you who play and who are on this page, now you know why there is so much obscurity on SP. Speaking of which, thank you to Debbie S. and Cyndi B for clicking on my friend button. I appreciate that. By the way, the record for the week that had 452 games played, I was 72-24. Ten people stayed home for the week, 2 people left for good. They are Linda K and Lisa M. But Jill T. of Indianapolis IN and Sandy D. of Pasadena MD joined up. So my total list of challengers is at an all time high...106. Also, a list of new adds coming next week. Thanks, Poppers.
