Hello Provincetown. You rock! I am blown away with the FB messages and emails asking about Jim Lyman. He has a very long road ahead of him. As soon as his doctors think he is ready to move from the Trauma ICU unit, they will be transferring him to a Rehab/Hospital facility, as they want to begin work right away on strengthening his arms and legs, so they can then begin to teach him to walk and use his hands again. His case manager told me on Friday he will not be physically able to travel for at least six months. He had three surgeries last week; the first to stabilize him, the second to place iron rods in his legs, right arm, and femur, then some facial reconstruction. There is still some internal bleeding going on, that is requiring blood transfusions, but right now the doctors feel that will stop on its own. He is also still having some bleeding in the brain, but they feel that will stop on its own as well. They continue to monitor that with daily CT scans. Progress right now from day to day is difficult to measure. I would estimate his responsiveness today was no more than 5%. On a positive note, he was able to tell his nurse it is 2014 and he thought he was in Beth Israel Hospital. And he asked for me between my visits today, so I feel good in knowing that he is aware of me being there. I am not going to have much free time to share information about Jim. Right now my focus is on getting him better, getting the gallery ready to open in his absence for the 2014 season, and holding down my full time day job. Please know I am not ignoring you when I do not respond to your emails and FB messages. Thanks again for all your prayers and good wishes. Please feel free to send Jim cards or notes. Once he is aware enough to hear them, I will begin to read them to him. They can be sent to: Jim Lyman 2234 8th Ave N St Petersburg, FL 33713 Thank you. Mark Leach
