Hello Ridgeland High School! -Today is Paraprofessional Appreciation Day – The members of the Walker County Board of Education would like to thank all Paraprofessionals for the service they provide to our students each day. Their daily interactions are positive and encouraging and as they assist our students in a variety of ways that many times often goes unnoticed. We do notice the valuable role you embrace each day throughout our school. Thank you for your hard work, perseverance and dedication to your profession, your school, but more important, to the students you serve. Your contribution to the educational journey continues to keep our students on the path toward Graduation and into a successful future. -Anyone interested in trying out for football and/or competition cheerleading for 2014-2015 needs to come to Room 1004 to pick up an information packet and application. -The boy’s golf team defeated LFO yesterday in their first match of the year. All team member played very well and contributed in the teams win. Team members include: Wyatt Miles Blain Sharpe Cordell Kingsley Zane McDaniel Brady Johnson Dee Mize Aliah Acuff The team’s next match is next Monday at Dade County. - Baseball Games vs. LFO Ridgeland 5 vs. LFO 9 Starting pitcher Logan Hicks went 5 innings and reliever Jacob Russell would throw 2 innings during the game. 1st inning Chase Crawford beat out a bunt and Tyler Hisey was able to sacrifice Crawford to third base. Tucker Holdbrooks squeezed in Crawford for the Panthers 1-0 lead. Kevin Long Doubled in the inning scoring Hisey from second to make it 2-0 after the bottom of the first. The LFO Warriors would bounce back and take advantage of 2 walks and 5 hits to collect 3 runs in the 4th inning to make it 3-2. In the bottom of the 4th the Panthers would piece together a leadoff hit by Holbrooks and Chandler Nabors scoring Holdbrooks to tie it at 3 All in the bottom of the 4th. The 5th inning saw the Warriors tack on 4 more runs to make it 7-3. The Panthers responded with 1 more run of their own on a Tucker Hill double to set up the table. The top of the 6th the Warriors scored 2 runs to make the score 9-5. Ridgeland scored 1 run in the 6th as Chase Crawford stole home to make it 9-6. The Panthers would come up short in the bottom half of the 7th inning to put them now at (5-2) on the season as they will play LFO again for a rematch on Friday. Logan Hicks was saddled with the loss now (2-1). JV Baseball Team beat LFO 3-2 last night as starting pitcher Dakota McGraw would debut in the night-cap. The JV Panther will play LFO on Friday as well and are now (5-1) on the season. -On Saturday, March 29, 2014 FCCLA is having a Fundraiser and will host it’s first Beauty Pageant. If you are interested in being in the pageant come by the office and pick up a form. The pageant is from Miss Teensy 0-17 months to Miss Ridgeland 18 years old. Teensy Mr. Ridgeland 0-17 months to Tiny Mr. Ridgeland from 18 months-3 years old. A letter explaining everything is attached to the application. - Seniors: Please come by the media center this week to vote on Class Representative for Graduation. The Class Representative is voted on by the class of 2014 to give a speech at graduation for the senior class. Friday will be the last day to vote. You will also be given a calendar for all important senior dates until the end of the year. (M-F) -The Key Club is having a photo booth Fundraiser during all lunches on Monday, March 17th. Pictures are $2.00. -Attention Seniors: The Dalton State financial aid office will be at Ridgeland on Thursday, March 20th to assist you in filling out your FAFSA. Sign up for a time slot in the guidance office today and pick up more information. - Ridgelands Trading Card Game Club will be hosting a school-wide tournament on March 20th, immediately after school in the large commons. It will be separated into three categories: Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic--the Gathering, and Pokemon. The cost is $5 to enter in each category, and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place including tins and card packs. For more information, contact Mrs. Bush in room 138 or one of the club officers. Additional meetings will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for anyone interested. (T) -Tickets for the Music Man performances will be on sale today during lunch. Tickets are $3. Performances will be on Thursday and Friday during 4th block.
