Hello Team Eddie! The Little Lion just wrapped up his follow-up appointment this morning at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center with Dr. Sarino. The doctor and I had an in-depth conversation on what priority should be regarding Eddies recovery plan. She confirmed what I have concluded after research, analysis and discussions with numerous other medical professionals, that Eddie needs to be fully aware to benefit from almost every neuro-recovery or brain rehabilitation program she is aware of, like the the one Rancho has in place. Although weaning off the vent is important, it does nothing real significance to help recovery of the actual brain injury. She also informed me of a trial study underway at Rancho using neural implants. Exciting to have another medical professional opinion validate what should be absolute priority right now. Action is underway is to clear the obstacles preventing him from getting the disorder of consciousness therapies that give him a chance of full awareness and consequently a chance at real recovery. Video taken and narrated by grandmother Maria this past Tuesday. She does PT/OT on Eddie several times a week, keeping him loose and limber. She is one of Eddies many angels.
