Hello! Today Colton had a procedure in the cath lab to hopefully open up his small pulmonary arteries. The procedure took about 3 hours from start to finish. What they found was that ballooning and stenting wouldnt work. His arteries are too small for too long that the ballooning and stenting wouldnt work. The plan now is to have another open heart surgery tomorrow. We will have the same surgeon that did the first surgery. They are hoping this is a one time fix or they will be able to fix it when he has to have his conduit replaced. This surgery is a major surgery and he will be placed on bypass. It should take between 3-5 hours and recovery is a couple days. The plan is to then evaluate his stomach and esophageal issues because he has been spitting up all of his feedings lately. Then once all of these issues are taken care of we will work towards getting the trach so we will definitely be here a while! We will update when we know a time of the surgery tomorrow.
