Hello Village, We sure have been very, very busy at the farm. We are only have 14 available greyhounds on the farm right now. So lets give you the good news. Who Went Home: Lotus found her forever home and we could not be happier!! Kathy Dzubryk Sutphin and Sue adopted Liv years ago and remained at one greyhound. We all tried to get them to adopt another, but they (one of them anyway) held on strong to one leash. Then they attended the Walk/Play/Picnic on the farm and met little Lotus. They said that they were recently thinking about adding a second. Right? You should have seen our faces. Well, all it took was one walk and we were out in the parking lot evaluating the size of their car for two. LOL Lotus is now living with Kathy, Sue and her fursister Liv in Roebling, NJ. Layton found his forever family and even a furbrother. Layton was returned through no fault of his own. Chris and Margo had an approved application and came out to the farm with their Standard Poodle Ranger to find a friend. We showed Ranger a female greyhound and he was interested, but not really impressed. When we brought out Layton, you could see that his was interested. They went for a walk and then into the paddock for some play. They were perfect together and Layton really took to Margo. Layton now lives with his forever family in Brookhaven, Pa. Joe found his forever family. Antony and Jana came out to the farm to meet and walk greyhounds on three separate occasions. Once they were ready to actually pull the plug, they were ready to do some serious walking. They walked a couple, but it was Joe that had their hearts at the other end of the leash. Joe now lives with Antony and Jana in Philadelphia, Pa. Balsam met her forever family. Debbie Gottardi has been volunteering during the week to do the 12 pm turnout at the farm. We want to take a moment to thank Debbie for her help. She thought that her greyhound was Sampson, but her little dog AJ had a different idea. Then she fell head over heals for little Ms. Balsam. Once Balsam was spayed, she took her to her house to meet AJ and he gave his approval. Balsam now lives with Tyler, her greyhound sister, and AJ in Vineland, NJ. Stew met his forever mommy! Jaime had a greyhound and after he passed, she fostered. Now she was ready for her own again. When she arrived at the farm, she asked to meet Stew. She took him for a walk and quickly knew that he was the one. Stew, now called Shemp, lives with Jaime in Philadelphia, Pa. Horton found his forever parents. Caroline was driving by the farm and saw our sign. She had never had a dog, she is a cat person, but she was interested. She walked a greyhound and said that she would be back. She came back the next day and we let her walk Horton, who was returned through no fault of his own. When she brought him back to the farm, she said that she would bring her husband over on the weekend. When they came over, she asked to walk Horton. They took him into the paddock and played with him for a while. They asked some questions and said they had to think about it. Not even an hour later, Caroline called and said that Horton was her dog. She said that she never felt like this before. She would be happy if he found a home, but sad if it wasnt her home. Horton now lives with Caroline and her very, very shocked husband Frank in Vineland, NJ. So, Who Got Picked? Sammy got picked!! The Shapley family adopted Hevener Hallmark through Greyhound Angels years ago. Hallmark recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge and the whole family missed having a greyhound. They came out to the farm, with much older kids, looking for a playful greyhound. Come on, you all would have though of Sammy! They took her in the paddock for play and she showed them what she is all about. She played with the toys and made them all laugh. Then she came over for some love, but went right back to playing. That girl worked it and one by one won them all over. Sammy will be going home with the Shapley family on her birthday!! Wendell found his forever daddy. Paul adopted a greyhound through Greyhound Angels years ago and missed having one in his home. Now that we were closer to him, he thought he would stop by and see some. We gave him Wendell to walk and he fell in love immediately. Wendell was the healing greyhound he wanted. Maldon found his forever home. Laverne recently lost her boxer and it has been devastating for her. Her daughter did some research and told her to come out to the farm. She came out with he son and his Lab mix. We put the two of them in the paddock and they played like they had always known each other. They even laid in the shade next to each other. Maldon, now Max, will be happy with his little female Lab mix and she with him. Mac found his forever family. Chantelle and Mike had a greyhound and had fallen in love with the neighbors greyhound, our girl Spot. They came out to look at Mac. They enjoyed his calm demeanor and his sweet disposition. They thought about another greyhound, but after thinking it over they have decided that Mac is their heart hound. We are waiting confirmation on Gary and Skylars possible adoptions. PLEASE REMEMBER: Due to my brain fart regarding the Haulbecue date, there is no Walk/Play/Picnic this weekend. We are expecting 14 newly retried racing greyhounds from Mobile. We need your help to get these newbies bathed, fed, walked and settled. Then we will break out the barbecue and celebrate their retirement. We ask that anyone coming out bring a side dish, soda, water, desert, paper plates, forks, napkins, etc. As always we will be supplying the hot dogs, hamburgers and the greyhounds!! We ask that everyone get here around 10:30 am. Remember that the haul can hit traffic and this is just an estimate. The greyhounds can use Medium and Large Milkbones!! They are almost out and everyone is edgy watching the supply go lower. LOL FARM EVENTS: We will be putting out a monthly calendar of events being held on the weekends at the farm. Besides the Walk/Play/Picnic days we are looking to add a Bathing Ice Cream Social and a Movie Night at the Farm!! If you have any ideas for event on the farm, please let us know! WV GREYHOUNDS ARE A COMIN: The second week in July we will be welcoming eight West Virginia Greyhounds into their retirement. One of which is the last of the Hydro boys, Electric. Again we want to thank everyone for their help and support. Our Village of adopters, volunteers and supporters is the reason this update is so long. Hahaha We love you all and hope to see you all very soon. IT TAKES A VILLAGE!! Hug those hounds - Li
