Hello Warriors! There are three problems faced by the candidates : 1. Costly Travelling : A bit of respite to your ongoing train fares to reach SSB specially the repeaters and who are low on cash. As the freshers already get the Travelling Allowances, it is mainly for repeaters.. A information book named Trains At a Glance (available at stations) printed by Indian Railways has a clause under Rail Travel Concessions offered by Railways under Part-A Serial No.26 Category Unemployed Youth which entitles all the candidates going for a PSU or Central/State government jobs interview for a 50% concession in the sleeper class or 100% concession in the general class of the train on producing the following documents: 1. Attested Photocopy by a gazetted officer of the application form submitted to the concerned organization. 2. Attested Photocopy by a gazetted officer of the call letter received for the interview mentioning the date and place of interview. The reservation has to be done through counter system, it is not possible through e-tickets from irctc website. However, railway clerks are not well aware of this clause (may vary from cities to cities) so remain patient give all your documents in proper manner and convince them that it actually exists on papers It may save some hard earned money of yours or your family... 2. Unknown dates of SSB : due to which you dont get tickets available at the needed time, The stations come under generally three waiting lists. 1. GNWL- General Waiting List 2. PQWL- Pooled Quota Waiting List 3. RLWL - Remote Location Waiting List There likely to get the confirm ticket of waiting list is in these orders A) GNWL>RLWL>PQWL B) GNWL>PQWL>RLWL Both A and B differs with routes to routes and trains to trains, now coming to the main point. That means by any way which ever station is having a quota of GNWL will get confirmed first in any case. Suppose I live in Jabalpur(RLWL), there is one train which goes to Bangalore from here, and that too jam packed, limited number of seats for Jabalpur passengers The waiting list was RLWL 12, We normally think it will get confirmed but the chances are very less, now I booked the ticket from Patna which is the source station of the train then I was getting 14 Available seats, so the point is book your ticket from source station and change the boarding station to your city, you may have to pay a bit more than the normal fare, but at least you wont have to seat near the toilet. And repeat the same if you are getting waiting from Source Station also, then take the ticket till the destination even if your station is well before the destination, the train has most number of seats from Source Station to Destination Station. Just dont look for the reservation from your Source station to the Destination Station, apply all the combinations of stations possible to get the ticket . This facility is only available through Counter Reservation System and cannot be done online that is through IRCTC. 3. This is specially for freshers and women candidates : The freshers who are going for an interview leaving there parents and there birth city for the first time are quite scary about the whereabouts of the city of interview... To buy a map, google about the city ... querying about the city from recommended ones regarding the fooding and lodging specially if the reporting is in the morning you need to go a day ahead of reporting keeping in mind about the schedule and running status of the train. Railways has made your accommodation problem somewhat easy they have now started online booking of the retiring rooms and Dormitory (Women are not allowed, they can only reside in the retiring rooms), the charges are very nominal ( may range from Rs 150 to Rs 240 for Non-AC dormitories, please look in the below mentioned link for further information) as compared to your hotels outside of the station and if you do the cost-benefit analysis of the stay in an outside hotel you will have to first book an auto or board a bus. Then Hotel charges may start from Rs 300 + Transport From Station + Transport To Station( Charges will be random in the morning depending on the driver as you dont have much options you need to reach on time), if you stay at the dormitory or retiring room the best part is it is located in the station premises itself that is near to MCO where you report for your call ups thus saving money and avoiding exertion of body.
