Hello! We are looking for officers for Health Disparity Organization. There are a couple of positions open and we want to get enthusiastic people to be part of our team. The aim of our organization is to raise awareness of health disparities that exist in our community. A lot of physicians do not provide medical service to underserved people. Since this is an increasing problem, a lot of medical schools, including VCU School of Medicine, have integrated health disparity education in their curriculum. Just because someone does not have money to afford getting access to healthcare does not mean that they should just be push aside. Health disparities that exist in our own Richmond community are overlooked. Many people are always focused on international aid. However, there are far too many inequalities in the healthcare system right in our neighborhood. Local free clinics are operating on minimum funding and often have to turn down few patients. We have found a local network of partners who are willing to be part of good cause within Richmond community. We will be working directly with clinics and organizations that provide medical treatment to people from low socioeconomic status. The activities we are planning on organizing include health workshops at local elementary schools, hygiene products fundraiser, and blood pressure checking events for homeless people. We will be working closely with Richmond Center for High Blood Pressure. We are looking for enthusiastic members and officers who will support and be part of our growing HDO! There are many positions that are open this semester! We are looking forward to work with each one of you this semester!
