Hello! We are the 10th grade students of Colegio Americano de Torreon, and we have created our own version of the Ice Bucket Challenge in order educate, create awareness, and help a good cause. According to the ALS Association, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. Due to the degenerative nature of ALS, this disease eventually can lead to the death of the motor neurons. After death, the brain’s ability to control movement is gone. This can lead to the individual with ALS, especially those in the later stages, being totally paralyzed. Instead of doing the ice bucket challenge, we have decided to create our own challenge. We would like to try and make as many sandwiches as possible in a minute in order to help out the people of Mexico, and then donate to the ALS Association. Our challenge is for everybody who would like to make a difference. We challenge you to educate, create awareness, and come up with a challenge that is unique to you. Perhaps even a challenge that could help other organizations as well. Thank you for your time! Go CAT! In total, we made 34 sandwiches in a minute, and finished using the rest of the ingredients to make a total of 70 sandwiches! Woah!
