Hello West Hills Neighbors. Just came home from our WHNC public safety & emergency preparedness committee meeting. We are working on a plan to organize Map Your Neighborhood (This is a program from FEMA) for all of West Hills. In the meantime until it’s finished I had an idea pop into my mind. I hope that we all commit to participate. This flyer was posted a few days ago. What about if we all print 5 copies of this flyer and pass them out to our 5 closest neighbors and collect their information for use in case of emergency. At the same time you ask them to do the same thing. This way we will cover a huge area of neighbors knowing neighbors and their information is ready in case of an emergency. Why do we need to do this? Well, it’s like buying car insurance. You might never need it; in fact you hope you won’t. However if the occasion arises, your having your neighbor’s information is just like having car insurance you are covered. It means you’re ready with their information and ready as you can be to help yourself, your family and your neighborhood in an emergency situation. If you don’t have a neighborhood Watch group this is like a small neighborhood watch. We need to do this for ourselves and for our families. Let’s all participate; sharing helpful information can help all of us to survive a disaster. What do you think?
