Hello Wingmates, If you are taking your Physical Fitness Assesment this UTA here is the information you need to have. The AFI 36-2905 was extensively rewritten and released 21 OCT, this past Monday. There are some major changes, Two changes are: The walk is now 2.0 kilometers and is pass/fail. It is timed, no heart rate To pass; members must walk 2.0 kilometers (1.25 miles less 13 yards) in: Males 5,250 feet may perform duty at a unit close to home altitude with CC approval. •Exemptions 5.0 •Medical exemptions can ONLY be made by a military medical provider, 5.2 •Exemptions will NOT be given for currency improvement purposes, 5.2 •All members will complete an A/C measurement unless reviewed and granted an exemption approved by the deployment availability working group (DAWG), 5.2 and 5.2.7.1. •For exemptions, ARC members must bring recommendations from their PCP and any limitations will be transcribed by a military medical provider, 5.2.2.2 and 5.2.8. •Pregnancy waivers are valid for 180 days after completion of pregnancy, 5.2.3.2. •All traditional and non-AGR ARC members will be given a 90 day acclimatization period for TDYs and deployments lasting greater than 30 days, 5.2.4.2 and 5.3.2.1 •Commanders’ exemptions are to be used only for unforeseen catastrophic events. This exemption not authorized for personal, medical, or currency issues, table 5.1. •AFFMS entries for deployments: Use Composite (Deployment) exemption for TDY exemptions exceeding 30 days. Use Composite Commanders exemption for Non-participating (no pay/points) ARC members •Commanders will document all non-medical exemptions by e-mail or memo and forward to FAC for entry. Composite exemptions may only be granted by a military medical provider for medical reason, table 5.1 NOTES. •BE WELL for Non-AGR, traditional ARC Airmen 6.2.1 Must accomplish Be Well within 60 days in ADLS or with ARC EP where available Airmen who receive consecutive Unsatisfactory FAs are required to re-enroll in the BE WELL Program. Additionally, Airmen who receive nonconsecutive Unsatisfactory FAs must start BE WELL within 10 days of their latest Unsatisfactory FA, 6.2.3. •Special Populations •BMT Airmen and Technical Training students will complete official FAs via training cadre PTLs/MTLs. The last FA administered at BMT will count as an Enlisted Airman’s first official FA for AFFMS input. Graduated BMT Airmen will hand carry FA AF Form 4446 for input into AFFMS by the FAC at their first duty station or technical training (MTL/UFPM), whichever location they report to first, 7.1.3. •Individual Reservists (IRs), who perform duty outside of their commuting area may take the FA at an AF unit at or near their home. Appointment must be pre-coordinated with members owning FAC and UFPM. Member may be in AT or IDT status, 7.3. •ARC Tenant Units, 7.4 Will be supported by the Host base FAC Tenant Wing should provide testing schedule/requirements to host FAC 60 days prior. FAC may request PTL augmentees from tenant units, 7.4.1.2. ARC tenant wings may still conduct their own fitness assessments contingent upon agreement between Host Wing/CC and ARC Wing/CC. In such a case the FPM will oversee training and testing, 7.4.1.2. All FAC augmentees must have a PTL-B certification and receive refresher procedures prior to administering any FAs. •Program Management, 8.0 •UFPM initiates the Fitness Case File when a member scores UNSAT on a FA. Will contain AF Form 108, hard copy AF Form 44446, any applicable 422s/469s, 8.2.1 Must maintain the case file for 24 months after the most recent failure, 8.2.1.1. •Protected Health Information, para. 8.3, please review in its entirety. •Administrative and Personnel Actions, 10.0 •It remains the same that 4 failures in 24 months, despite any passes in between requires a retention/discharge recommendation from the Airman’s Unit CC, 10.1.5.1. •Adverse administrative action should be taken on members who score UNSAT on their FA and the case file must be documented. If no action is taken it must be documented in the member’s case file as to why no action was taken by unit CC, 10.1.2.1. •As appropriate, unit CCs will document and take corrective action for members’ unexcused failure to participate in FP program, such as non-currency, 10.1.3. •Commanders may require individuals who do not present a professional military appearance (regardless of overall FA composite score) to enter the FIP (SFIP for ARC) and/or otherwise schedule individuals for fitness education and intervention, 10.2.2. •ARC members in all fitness categories going on active duty orders for training must be prepared to participate in PT programs and those in the SFIP must participate in the FIP during periods of active duty, 10.3.1.4. •Removing Scores From AFFMS, 10.1 Appeals Process, Figure 10.1, (refer for more complete details). •Member notifies UFPM •UFPM collects a memo for Record that includes, requested action, basis for request, references and supporting documents and applicant information. •UFPM routes Memo through chain of command to Wing Commander. •After Wing CC decision UFPM notifies AFPC/DPSI of requested records change. •afpc.af.mil/affitnessprogram/ for more information Administrative Errors, limited to number of repetitions performed does not match number submitted in AFFMS; corrections to profile dates and exemption updates; deletion of score double entry; and FAs taken while pregnant. Correction requests are made by the FAC in MyPers. https://gum-crm.csd.disa.mil/app/categories/p/8%2C11/c/1525 FAQs 1. When determining if a member is eligible for the alternate body fat measurement what is meant by 75 or the remaining 80 points? The Body Mass Index measurement is intended for individuals who normally score very high on the cardiovascular and strength portions of the Fitness Assessment but do not pass the Abdominal Circumference (A/C) component due to other variables such as a large amount of muscle mass or being well above or below average in height. In order to be eligible for BMI measurement a member must be able to pass and score 75 points out of 80. As the AFI states, 75 out of the REMAINING 80 points. Mathematically it looks like this: 100 possible points - 20 points (A/C measurement) = 80 points OR THIS... (Situps) 10 points + (Pushups) 10 points + (Cardio) 60 points = 80 possible points Example: 47 year old male completes 20 pushups and earns 6.5 points, completes 31 sit ups and earns 8.5 points, he must obtain 60 points on the run to score a 75. Example: 47 year old male completes 28 pushups and earns 9.5 points, completes 39 sit ups and earns 9.5 points, he must obtain 56 points on the run to score a 75. If the member THEN passes the BMI screen, he or she would earn an EXEMPT status in AFFMS under A/C. The assumption is that the individual is very physically fit but unable to pass the A/C measurement due to other factors. 2. What are the AFFMS procedures for entering the new 2.0 km walk, the alternate body fat measurements and A/C only? Members Testing AC Only - Males with A/C only between 38-39 will have to be entered into AFFMS at 37.5 and females A/C only between 34.5-35.5 will have to be entered into AFFMS as 34.0 so that it shows as a 75 and satisfactory. BMI/BFA - The BMI screen and the BFA (if applicable) will be administered immediately after completion of the FA. If the Airman passes either the BMI screen or BFA, the Airman Passes the FA and will be marked Exempt in AFFMS for the AC measurement, but all other scores will be recorded as tested. This exemption is a place holder within the Air Force Fitness Management System (AFFMS) until a system update will allow for pass or fail entries for individual components. To properly track these instances, the FAC manager will submit an exception to policy (ETP) letter (template at attachment 6) within two duty days to AFPC/DPSIM ([email protected]) if an Airman qualifies to take and passes either the BMI screen or the BFA. The AC measurement, BMI score, and BFA (if performed) will be provided in the letter. Walk Test - Use the following interim scoring method to record a walk test score of pass or fail in the Air Force Fitness Management System (AFFMS). This interim scoring method is a place holder within AFFMS until a system update will allow for pass or fail entries for individual components. If an Airman passes the 2.0 km walk test, mark the Airman exempt for the aerobic component. If the Airman fails the 2.0 km walk test, enter the Airmans heart rate as 99 and enter the score as 59:59. This interim scoring method is a defacto pass or fail and will ensure the overall fitness assessment score is accurately calculated. 3. AFI 36-2905 states that RMP status is authorized to be able to take the FA but AFI 36-2254V1, 4.1.4.3 states “…RMPs are not to be used to satisfy individual training requirements”. Which is correct? A member may not be put into RMP status in order to specifically take the FA, however taking the FA while in RMP status for other purposes is permitted. 4. Why can’t I view the new scorecard AF Form 4446 in e-pubs? You version of the IBM viewer is likely not compatible; you may have your IT dept. download IBM Lotus Forms Viewer 4.0 from the following site: e-publishing.af.mil/viewerdownload.asp. Before its installed, IBM Lotus Forms Viewer 3.5.1 will need to be uninstalled. I have also attached the form in ADOBE for convenience and is being sent out electronically. 5. Can an Airman still score an excellent and test once per year when taking the 2.0 km walk? Airmen taking the 2.0 walk assessment must now test 2x per year. 6. Does an Airman need a new 469 if they already have a 1.0 mile walk profile? At this time Airmen may use their current walk profile to take the 2.0 km walk. Formal decision will be released shortly and will be communicated to all FACs, FSSs and FPMs.
