Hello again ... Ive always been aware my blog - TopicsExpress

Hello again ... Ive always been aware my blog [email protected] started in Lake Wales, Florida, in 2004, when I posted my experiences, thoughts and worries to the German online support group for care partners that has been with me as a very supporting contact through all the years when Alex and I lived without family members and friends nearby, but in a truly wonderful human environment and beautiful landscape. These post reflect what I knew and shared back then. Ive translated them into ENGLISH, motivated and encouraged to do so by Richard Taylor who has also suggested the blogs title - based on my experiences with non-verbal communication, first with deaf people, then with horses, then with Alex when he didnt talk anymore. There was indeed a connection that heped Alex and me, because he had been one of my students in western style horseback riding (the fine gentle Canadian style!) and Alex knew and loved my horses just as much as he had loved his own horses a long time ago in Latin America. So there were rules and rituals of communication that worked for us, even when Alex reached deeper states of dementia and struggled with limiting cognitive disabilities, while his body still was healthy and mobile. - Now, reading Barry Pankhursts latest post, I was reminded of first symptoms Alex had showed prior to his diagnosis in 2002 - and before Ive started my blog in 2004. From this time Ive nothing left but my memories, and pictures documenting changes before I was able to understand them. Behavioral changes brought up conflicts in our relationsship both of us didnt understand, allowed us to adapt to these changes, to accept them and reassure each other of our unbroken love! - Heres the link to my blog for all my NEW FB friends: tinahackel.wordpress/ and Ill add a few pics and comments from the first years of challenge and changes.
