Hello again, everyone! Below is a message from Melanie Nadon, who is conducting research into Equity Policies and their effectiveness in debating tournaments. Please, take a minute to fill out her survey! Equity Policy Survey: Research Intent and Goals The following survey is a portion of a research project being carried about by Melanie Nadon for her senior thesis at the University of La Verne in Southern California. This project seeks to understand whether equity policies are resulting in a better gender balance and higher success and retention rates for female debaters and if so, why that is the case. The resulting data should allow the debating community to better assess which equity policies studied were the most successful and had the most participant confidence so as to tailor their equity policies to fit more effective models and structures in the future. Publishing the results of this study in journals and on news sites that cater to the debating community is intended in order to best share the knowledge gathered from this research. If you are a debater, adjudicator, organizer, or any other person who has participated in the tournament in some manner (such as a runner) that is impacted by the equity policy, your response to the survey is highly encouraged!
