He was born in the year 1502 at Cremona, Lombardy, Italy Anthony’s Father was Lazzaro and his mother was Anthonia His father, Lazzaro died when he was just 2 years old His mother, Antonia Pescorali, was widowed at the age of 18 Anthonia, who was now a widow devoted herself to her son Anthony. Catholic history tells us that young Anthony studied medicine at Padua He received his doctorate degree at age 22. He worked as a physician to the poor in Cremona, Italy Anthony felt called to the religious life. He bequeathed his inheritance to his mother Catholic history tells us that “Anthony Mary” worked as a catechist of the Catholic Church He was ordained a Catholic Priest at the age of 26 Catholic Tradition informs us that angels were seen around the altar at his first Holy Mass as a Catholic Priest! Father Anthony was a noted preacher and an excellent administrator. Catholic History tells us that while in Milan, Father Anthony established the congregations: •The Society of Clerics of Saint Paul (popularly known as the Barnabites) for men religious, and •The Angelics of Saint Paul for uncloistered nuns. Father Anthony helped introduce the Forty Hours Devotion. These groups founded by Father Antony Mary Zaccaria helped to: • reform the morals of the faithful, • encouraged laymen to work together with the apostolate, and • frequent reception of Communion. Catholic History confirms that while on a peace mission, Father Anthony became ill and died at his mothers house Catholic Tradition says that in his last moments Father Anthony had a vision of Saint Paul the Apostle. Father Anthony Mary Zaccaria died on the 5th of July 1539 Catholic History confirms to us that he died of natural causes at Cremona, Lombardy, Italy He was buried at Saint Pauls Convent of the Angelics at Milan, Italy Father Anthony Mary was beatified and given the “decree of heroic virtues” and declared as Blessed Antonio Maria Zaccaria in 1849 by Pope Blessed Pius IX (who was the 255th Bishop of Rome and Head of the Catholic Church since the pontificate of Saint Peter the Apostle) Blessed Antony Mary Zaccaria is classified as one of the incorruptible Saints! Catholic History confirms that in 1566 Father Antony Mary Zaccaria’s body was found incorrupt !
