Hello all! I have a question to ask the group on behalf of a friend who is currently going through a job search in student affairs. On three separate occasions, my friend has made it all the way to an on-campus interview, only to then be told several weeks later that they would be closing the search without hiring any of the candidates that had just gone through the interview process. My question is, given the time, effort, and financial investment that these lengthy interview processes take, what are the possible reasons for choosing to close a job search search without making any new hires? Additionally, does HR limit the type of communication search chairs are allowed to have with these candidates? My friend feels sort of left in the dark without any real understanding of why this would happen. Any insight is very much appreciated!
