Hello all. Let me tell you my feelings about this group. Following this evenings interesting banter about what may or may not be relevant as postings on the group, heres my two pennuth. I was brought up in Hemsworth from being a nipper in nappies to being about 9 when we moved to Upton. My closest school friends pretty much all lived in Hemsworth and I missed out on a lot of what happened when I wasnt at school at Sacred Heart and that memory of being apart has always been quite strong. So, when I found this group, I was quite pleased that I might get reacquainted with some old friends. That sort of happened but what DID happen was I came across names of places I had almost forgotten and had become fleeting memories of days gone by. The group was responsible for restoring those memories for me, encouraging my curiosity about my childhood hometown and about nearby places and facts. Posting words or stories, pictures of swans or flowers, of places or people, buildings or, oddly, feet (!) only does one thing for me. It tells me that Hemsworth, in spite of the pretty grim time it experienced with closures of pits etc. still has a vibrant community of funny, thoughtful and forward-thinking people who I am proud to feel part of even though I am many miles away. End of slushy waffle. Back to posting bad jokes and puns!
