Hello, and happy springtime, Along with the first dusting of cherry blossoms and the bold arrival of daffodils and crocuses, spring in Olympia means the Procession of the Species Celebration! The Procession Community Art Studio will open on March 8 for the seven weeks leading up to Procession weekend, and well need volunteer studio crew members to welcome and orient people. Thats where you come in, either because youve volunteered in the studio in previous years or offered to be a crew member this year. Studio shifts begin March 10, and continue through May 3 (thats a week beyond the Procession, and the work that week will be cleaning up the studio after Procession weekend). The studio will be open: Weekdays 3 -- 8 Weekends 12 -- 8 Would you be available to work a regular shift once a week between March 10 and May 3? It works best for scheduling if crew members commit to a three- or four-hour shift. If youd like to join the Procession crew this year -- and we hope you do! -- please send me a quick note (annpelo@msn) or call the Studio (360-705-1087) to let us know what shift youd like to work each week. There will be a volunteer open house and orientation on Saturday, March 8, from 10 am till noon. Stop by the studio for coffee and pastries, to see the layout of studio, and to get the lowdown on the this years Procession rhythms. Other volunteer possibilities include: welcoming school groups to the studio on weekday mornings: the times for this are scheduled as we receive requests from school groups; distributing flyers around town; setting up and cleaning up on Procession weekend. If youd like to jump in with any of these tasks, please let us know; well be glad for your help.
