Hello, can someone help me figure out what these are? This tree is deciduous, losing leaves in winter, and the leaves are smooth and ovate shaped. The fruit is only 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter and a blue purple, and is soft inside. Doesnt look edible to me but the deer and squirrels seem to like them. The bark is closely ribbed and not real rough to touch. It doesnt appear to be the hickory nuts that someone else posted recently. My tree book makes me think some kind of buck berry tree, but cant seem to find anything exactly like what we have. Oh, and we are in western Missouri.
