Hello cool people of Under The Couch! This is going to be a rather long post, but Ive got a lot to talk about, so bear with me :) As some of you know, at the 1/12/15 meeting I basically volunteered to be the manager of an official Under The Couch YouTube channel, as well as a videographer for many of the UTC events (such as regular shows, open mic nights, etc.). After looking around on YouTube for a while, Ive realized that there is certainly media out there pertaining to UTC, but its from lots of different users on different accounts, and in various playlists. My goal here is to try to organize some (hopefully most) of that media onto a single channel that we as an organization can link to and refer to with confidence. Media on the page: As of right this moment, I have created a profile picture (based on a Facebook picture from the UTC page) as well as a cover photo for the channel. Ive posted two videos of the footage I have filmed since recently acquiring a GoPro and the initiative to really learn how to use it. There are three playlists on the page now, one for official filming of Regular shows, one for official filming of Open Mic Nights, and one other playlist that compiles videos from various other channels that I found pertained to UTC. Now, I know I didnt catch anywhere near everything that needs to go in that Other playlist but Im working on it, and if yall want to shoot me links so that I can put videos you like in the playlist that would be a huge help. I intend to film as many of the shows that I can personally attend, and those videos will be run through post production with a fairly consistent theme/layout (that will be established as I get more footage and possibly create a short intro clip to go at the beginning of each movie that has our name, logo, identity, etc. Collaboration for ideas and media for this 5-10 second clip will be needed - just FB message me and well work it out). These videos will be placed under the official playlists, and responsibility for organizing these videos will be (I hope) passed down to future YouTube channel managers. Perhaps it will become an official position (what do yall think?), if the YouTube channel turns out to be a success. For events that I cant attend, or if someone else has a great shot of an event, I would love for you share that media with me so I can incorporate it into the official videos. I also suspect that Im not the only one filming and editing here, so if someone has a fully edited high quality video of a UTC event that should be considered official I would love to know about it so that I can add it to one of the official playlists. ALSO, I would like, at some point, to create a main What is UTC video that is short and awesome that will play as the intro video when someone visits the main channel page. This video would involve many UTC members speaking about what we do as an organization, for example the equipment manager talking about the recording studio, the booking officer talking about booking shows, Lint and Loose Change officials talking about their creations, the open mic officer talking about open mic nights, etc. - yall get the point. The video would be about 2 minutes or so long, and is a project that I will bring up at future meetings (after the election meeting next week). Ownership of the page: Now to the nitty-gritty management stuff... So technically right now I own the page, as it is associated with my google account and email address (just not my name, of course.) I would like to have the page be owned by Under The Couch as an organization, so if a current officer could help me out by allowing me to use/create an official UTC email for page ownership that would be awesome. A youtube page has owners and managers, so I feel like the best method would be for UTC to own the page, and have manager status be passed down to future members who want to do what Im (trying to) do right now. I apologize if I have offended anyone with this message, or my initiative to start a YouTube page. If there is already a page the is officially established, I am not trying to undermine it, Im just not aware that it exists. Also, if there is a significant number of people in the group who dont want a UTC YouTube page, then I will stop what Im doing. This is all just an idea I have that I think would be pretty cool if it works, and I realize that it is just my opinion. So, without further adieu, here is the link to the page Ive created so far: https://youtube/channel/UCFSTxMQZ6YBylgYoPxm5cEA/feed The test footage from the 21st Birthday Show that came out pretty good is posted, as well as some test footage that came out pretty good of Alexander McIntyres open mic performance. I wrote a bit in the about section of the page, and if anyone has something theyd like to add to that please message me and I will add it. If anyone has their own youtube channel with cool music stuff on it, I would love to add it to the featured channels section of the page, so let me know! As of now, I think thats about all I have to say about the YouTube page. I hope this turns out to be a success that benefits both the organization and individual performers! (P.S. If we like it up enough, and get 500 subscribers, we can create a custom URL, which would be pretty cool!)
