Hello everybody! I have said on this page that my persona is not just defined as Chair of CIC. I am first a Kenyan who believes in democracy, the rule of law, constitutionalism and an orderly society. I acknowledge and defend the constitutional rights of every Kenyan to freely associate, assemble, speak and demonstrate, within the law. I however ask two questions. One, if we truly see a need as a people, to discuss urgent issues bedevelling our society, which are the issues that cannot be addressed through the institutions and structures that are established in the Constitution and which include representatives of the people. Which are these issues that can only be addressed through extra constitutional political processes. If we reject or ignore the constitutional structures, what stops every Kenyan defining their own form of engagement with the inevitable cacaphony, almost certainly leading to anarchy? Is that why Kenyans struggled for 20 years to get a Constitution? So we can side step it when convenient? My second question, if we give a deadline to issues that we are saying are critically important to us as a nation, then what next? I repeat these are my personal views as a concerned and patriotic Kenyan citizen. Be blessed
