Hello everybody, Ive been nominated by Steve Tocco to be apart of the ALS ice bucket challenge. Dad, I accept your challenge! I also challenge everyone whos watching this video, not to go out and dump a bucket of ice on their head, but instead to research what ALS is, and decide if you want to give a donation. Because after all, thats what these videos were originally designed to do. Almost all of the ALS ice bucket challenge videos Ive seen, have nothing to do with raising awareness, or support making a donation. I guarantee half of the people who are making these videos dont even know what ALS stands for. Yes, its fun to dump a bucket of ice water on your body to get a reaction out of people. Yes, its funny to watch your friends do it too, but thats not the real point of all this. The real point is to raise awareness, and to make a donation if you want to. Im dumping ice water on my head because Id like to be apart of the fun.... nobody likes a party pooper. More importantly though, Ive given my attention to the cause, and have made my donation. As self righteous as this post may seem, Im only trying to reach out to the people who are in the same position I was in a few days ago. That is, watching countless numbers of ALS ice bucket challenge videos, but still not being any more knowledgeable on the topic. I promise Im not any more noble than anyone else, because if it wasnt for this ice bucket challenge trend, I would have never bothered to give any of my attention to this, let alone make a donation to the association. Now I know, and all Im trying to do, is help change this trend from being a fun club, to it being something that actually gives awareness, and provides support.
