Hello everyone, As many of you know Community Action bought the Lincoln Way School Building. On Wednesday Nov. 6th. Sherry Kryder, Mindy Cavin, Hud and Marie Rutter, and Terra Dewalt attended a meeting with Don Ackerman and Donna Holmes from Community Action Wayne/Media. Don Ackerman spoke to us about how they intend to use the building. As of now they have four different locations which include Wayne-Medina head start, central offices and a garage area. They will be moving all four of these locations to the Lincoln Way Building. Their plan is to use the Classrooms on the East end of the building for Head Start and per-school programs. The classrooms and library area on the West side of the building will be used as office space. The gym will be left as is and used as a meeting room, for their use as well as for neighborhood events. We expressed our concerns about the summer meal program that operates out of the school building. Their answers were that they hope to install a commercial kitchen, so in the future they can provide the summer meal programs. Meanwhile they will work with Wooster City Schools to be sure the summer meals programs stays intact. The Building needs some rehab done before all this can take place. Don said they hope to be in the building late next summer. We will be seeing contractors coming and going from the building. As a small group of neighbors we feel like this is a good thing for our community.
