Hello everyone. I Rahul Singh (U13EE045) of B.Tech 2nd year Electrical Engineering have applied for the post of Hostel Secretary for H-9 Nehru Bhavan. A hostel is a ‘home away from home’ for us students, to make it more like home and after taking your problems into consideration I have come up with the following Manifesto: ADMINISTRATION 1. Maintain proper transparency in hostel budget to provide idea of proper allocation of funds. 2. Regular meetings of the HMC to ensure each and every problem of the students is looked after. 3. Open a new Facebook page to hear the grievances of students as well as complaints regarding noncompliance of work by any HMC member. Also include any new updates on Hostel. BASIC AMENITIES ENVIRONMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT 1. Proper maintenance of bathrooms including: • Regular cleanliness • Repairing of fixtures • Proper working of Geysers. • Desalination of water in bathrooms. 2. Ensure the proper health related protocols are in place like Maintenance of first aid box in the hostel office etc. 3. Maintenance of the environment in and around the hostel : • Cleanliness of rooms • Proper drainage of rainwater • Regular fumigation of bathrooms and rooms • Arrangement of benches in the garden area. 4. If feasible then replacement of the broken chairs and distribution of new pillows. 5. Proper maintenance of game room along with availability of new equipment’s. 6. Availability of different newspapers as well as magazines. NETWORK • Ensure the proper working of internet connections like WIFI and LAN • Bring in new LAN cables to replace the old ones and their proper distribution. MESS Ensure the proper working of mess including: • New mess schedule every fortnight • Improvement in quality of food • Proper mess timings • Scheduled maintenance of the water coolers. • Open the night canteen.
