Hello everyone, I am Piraya, from Thailand. I have just been participating in this homepage,Kyoto Travel Mode,as an admin. Going to collaborate with Kei Oka, a present admin who have posted many nice photos of the various places of Kyoto. Kei Oka is a Japanese university student who know Japanese history so well and have a lot of travel experiences. In addition to this, I have been new to Japan before, so I understand well what you need! As we work together, I am sure that we can create something creative and useful for travelers. We considered that Kyoto is a little nice place and it would be better to walk instead of using other transportation. So,from now on, we have planned to create a new travel route around Kyoto. For the first one, we selected Higashiyama area,an area of historical important temples and traditional old Kyoto. There is only about two kilometers long between Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera, but you could easily spend half a day or more visiting the temples, shrines, shops and restaurants along the way. A few days ago, we walked from Yasaka Shrine to Shoren-in Temple.Unlike the famous tourist sites,it is quiet and peaceful. we walked around inside and saw various paintings on the sliding doors, then sat on tatami mats admiring a beautiful garden with pond. Continuing on our walk to Kiyomizu-dera, we passed the interesting side streets with traditional merchant shops and restaurants. You can experience Japanese pickles buffet or Japanese ceramics workshop around here. From Kiyomizudera,we pass a little path called Ishibe Koji heading to Kenninji Temple. There are paintings of the Gods of Wind and Thunder, the most well known artwork by Sotatsu Tawaraya, displayed inside and Ceiling painting of the Twin Dragons. We also impressed by the peaceful beauty of Zen gardens with white sand and rocks too. After that, we passed Gion and ended our survey at Kawaramachi. This travel route map, photos and information will be posted soon to Fantarip*. *Fantarip: a website which enables you to create your own unique and original travel reports easily. fantarip
