Hello everyone! I am directing a musical right now, about the Donner Party and non-objective history and eating people, and its gonna be awesome and if you can make it out to see it you absolutely should. It runs between the 14th and 25th of june, the dates are spread out and Ill detail them in the comments. It also takes money, and we have until the 25th of June to raise it. Were looking for $1300, which is both a lot and not too much. Heres where that money goes: $500 split evenly between set and costumes $300 in festival fees $300 in emergency funds $200 in taking care of the actors and ourselves in tech and showtimes. If by some stroke of luck we dont have any emergencies and no one goes over budget, well use whats left to help out our generous and fantastic team, described below in gradually decreasing grammatical correctness: Kaela Garvin who wrote and originally directed this show two years ago, now playing Tamsen Donner and producing 5 new drafts of the script in nine days before moving house. Hannah Kim No who did the original set design has brought her incredible inventive mind back onto the trail and is the reason there are not ice cubes but a shaved ice machine. Barbara Begley who will be distorting and destroying anything you may have ever seen on our bodies into the most beautiful dinner attire for cannibals, 5-star maitre d quality what else do you expect. Gianfranco Settecasi who wrote the original music with Kaela, has brought back his glorious tinkling of the keys so its gonna sound like a 5-star restaurant in here too, were going to get too fancy for Hannibal. Michael Lapinsky who I may need to friend on facebook, is joining Gianfranco for musical direction and arranging and he has given us some dense, dense harmonies to work with, and theres one bit which is the best combination of cute and beautiful Ive heard in a song ever, and it s funny too. Liz Rogers is not only reprising her role as firebrand ten-year-old Virginia Reed (and my goodness do things happen to her) shes producing this show with Kaela and set a bunch of this up and shes also really good at playing a firebrand ten-year-old. Rebecca Russell is splitting that part with Liz and she is (non-shock of all non-shocks) ALSO really good and also really different, its fascinating to watch them take Virginia to different places and you should definitely see the show twice. Dustin Harris Smith has joined us, playing the role of Charles Stanton (in the same cast as Liz), occupation: being the wanderer above the sea of fog, or at least, trying to be, and he is nailing that bumbling comedy and continual failure of poetry. Vincent Graham played George Donner two years ago but switched over to Stanton (w/ Rebecca) because hes really FUNNY and not enough people remember so come see him be really FUNNY and also see Dustin be differently funny and also theyll both be sad because its a play about eating people in case you forgot. People die. Kelly Colburn is playing Eliza, eight-year-old Donner daughter and doll aficionado, and shes also taken upon herself to schedule this menagerie of conflicts which would break a lesser human, so come see her as a beautiful starving child and also youll get to hear Kelly sing, which is a blast and also sad, because, again, cannibalism. Brittany Allen is somehow jumping right from Too Many Lenas to the ingenue Mary Graves, model to girls and seeker of love, and thrilling us all with the elegance with which she may or may not eat people as well as just generally existing. Also, go see Too Many Lenas. Ryan Meyer who, again, I need to friend on facebook, is the captain of our journey, George Donner, and also the captain of bad dad jokes, and you should come watch him and Kaelas Tamsen make really, really, terrible puns in the midst of horrible things. And also dismembered limbs. Adin Lenahan who doesnt HAVE a facebook is performing Lewis Keseberg, who has been villanized and vilified, and has one song which ooohhh just come (twice, as established.) Hollis Beck is our erstwhile and objective(?) historian, C.F. McGlashan, with a complicated family and complicated history, and also she hits high c twice and much lower than that too, because, again, these are some really fun songs and harmonies. Cameron Toy, finally, has some secret special ingredients to this feast of talent that you wont get to know about possibly until you see the show or maybe a little earlier if you donate! Because these amazing people have put and are putting together something really beautiful for you. Every little bit helps, $5 is wonderful and well love you forever and try to avoid eating you if the situation arises. Thanks for scrolling down this far. Ill link show dates/times in the comments.
