Hello everyone, I havent posted here in quite a while, but Ive got a few minutes today and I thought I might take the opportunity to add a few bits here. Last night I went to a Master Session at NYU in which Phil Galdston interviewed the great Valerie Simpson. Valerie is so wonderful and her accomplishments are mind-boggling. She co-wrote Lets Go Get Stoned, Youre All I Need To Get By, Aint No Mountain High Enough, Aint Nothing Like The Real Thing and so many more songs that I couldnt live without. On top of that, she is the most successful female record producer in history. I bow down. Then I went to a listening party for the cast of Beautiful - the Carole King Musical at which we listened to the cast album which we recorded back in February. It sounds really great. Good job, Billy Jay Stein and Jason Howland. Ive also been doing a bunch of Rosanne Cash gigs, which will continue into 2014. The material is truly great, the band is phenomenal and Rose is in great voice. These are very rewarding musical experiences for me. The band consists of John Leventhal and Kevin Barry on guitars, Dan Rieser on drums and either Glenn Patscha or Jon Cowherd on keyboards. When hes available, David Mansfield joins us on fiddle, mandolin and acoustic guitar. I also did a record release show last week with my dear friend Mark Rivera. Marks new record, Common Bond is fantastic. More of these gigs to come, and Im very much looking forward to them. Marks band includes Charley Drayton on drums, Johnny Gale, Steve Conte and Mark Ribler on guitars, Bette Sussman on keyboards, Mark on saxophones and singing his ass off. Last weekend I did some shows with Christopher Cross. Wonderful guy, amazing catalog of songs, tremendous band. With Henry Hey, Doug Yowell and David Mann, as well as Marcia Ramirez and Kim Parent singing bvs. This week Im taking it easy. Just doing the show Beautiful on Broadway. Cooking at home (Im about to go shopping for the right ingredients to make a pozole verde. Delicioso!) Ive never written a bloggy blog like this. I hope its not too presumptuous. Im really just an International Low Tone Provider, turning low tones into dollars to buy groceries and shoes for my family.
