Hello everyone! Im a Scouter from Vancouver looking for a suggestion and advise on a situation Ive created. Two weeks ago I talked to my pack about the importance of taking a moment as recognizing that not everyone is fortunate enough to get presents over the holidays. I asked the pack to bring in a donation of either a used loved toy for children at a womens shelter in Vancouver or a new present for children at BC Childrens. This now brings me to the problem. Green Sixer has gone above and beyond this. After receiving his email and talking to his parents, hes donated $300 Canadian tire money and $300 of his own allowance hes earned to help children in need. Thats not all, he also is going to take any presents from his birthday on Nov 23 and donate to the packs toy drive. Part of me wants to recognize this youths outstanding contribution, but part of me also feels hes just going above and beyond the call and I may make youth who arent in such a position and have a struggling family situation feel bad that they couldnt donation more than they did. If I do recognize him, what way would do him justice? Thanks to everyone who shares their thoughts!
